Re: Difficult Student

I have a student who hates piano lessons and does not hesitate to let me know it. He is constantly complaining the whole lesson and is starting to refuse to do stuff. I have tried my best to incorporate fun games into the lesson to make it more interesting but as soon as we have to sit down and work on a piece (even when I say we will only do it for 5 minutes) he flat out refuses and complains. I have tried explaining to him that his mom would like him to learn piano and that we have to do piano here and if he doesn't want to do piano he needs to talk to his mom about that but he still doesn't listen. I have tried not backing down when I say we need to do something, but we would literally be sitting there the whole lesson doing nothing. I know I need to have a chat with the parents but have no idea how to word it! I don't want to talk bad about their children and want to word it in a way that will help them understand that their child is not cooperating and something needs to change but I don't want it to seem like I'm saying their child is a bad kid(because when we talk about things other then piano he is actually quite pleasant). This is really hard because it is such a nice family! If you have any ideas that would be great!
